Western Sky Community Care Provides Care Packages for Students Experiencing Homelessness

Las Cruces Public Schools would like to thank Western Sky Community Care for collaborating with the district to support students in need. On October 9, Western Sky Community Care delivered care packages to the district to support students who qualify for the McKinney-Vento program.

More than 100 care packages were delivered to the Dr. Karen M. Trujillo Administration Complex. The care packages included general hygiene items such as shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste and more. The care packages will be distributed district-wide to LCPS students in the McKinney-Vento program.

The McKinney-Vento program provides services and support for children, youth, and their families who experience homelessness. The Federal Programs Department at LCPS has McKinney-Vento liaisons who identify students battling homelessness and are in need of support. The team then works with LCPS families to connect them with community organizations that provide resources, shelter, and housing support.

Each year, Western Sky Community Care collaborates with the district to provide support for LCPS students and their families.
